In periods of high volume running (or more intense exercise) I found it extra important to eat sufficient amounts of carbohydrates 3-4 hours before bedtime.
However sometimes I forget to do so and get punished in the night with low bloodsugar. Tonight was such a night.

I was woken up at least 5 times last night. Each time I had about 10-15 gram of dextrose, but as you can see it only gave me about 1.5 to 2 hours of sleep.
My regular late meal (about 3 hours before bedtime) is 700 gram of pasta (175 g carbohydrates). Through out the whole day I will typically consume 400-500 grams of carbohydrates.
For reference this is what my bloodsugar looks like on a more regular night:

A bit on the high end early into my sleep due to “pizza effect”, where some foods causes a double spike in the bloodsugar due to their oily content (oil wraps the carbs and causes a delayed carb release). Notice here that even though I had a large meal a few hours before bedtime I went low around 8 (which is when I got up and had breakfast anyway).
